Who Should Do Your Taxes?

It's tax time again, and again, you need to decide who will prepare your taxes. This isn't a decision to take lightly as the wrong choice can easily cost you thousands of dollars.

It’s tax time again, and again, you need to decide who will prepare your taxes. This isn’t a decision to take lightly as the wrong choice can easily cost you thousands of dollars.

Do you do it yourself? With or without a software package?  Use an online service? A national tax return franchise such as H&R Block? An individual local tax professional such as an EA or CPA?

Last year I posted a blog examining each of these choices and explaining how to determine which approach is likely to be the best one for you.  Although the tax laws did change a little from 2011 to 2012, the advice in that blog still holds true.
