I don’t need to tell you how hard it is right now to find a good place to invest your money. Yet every day you’re probably staring at a great investment when you look in the mirror. If you’re like most people, you are your greatest asset, and investing in yourself and your career are your greatest investment opportunities right now.
Think about it. If you make $60,000 a year and you’ve got 20 years more to work, that’s an asset value of over a million dollars. For most people, nothing matches the income they’ll make or could make during their lives.
What if you could increase your earning power by 25%, or perhaps even 50%, over your lifetime? Those are some really big numbers. Or perhaps you’d like to change careers and do something more personally rewarding–something you’ll want to keep working at. The value of this is measured not only in years working but in the quality of your time. Another way to invest in yourself is by protecting your health and your ability to work.
Do you wish to work at your current job for the rest of your working life? If so, is there something you can do to increase your chances for getting better raises or perhaps a promotion? To increase your value on the job market to get a better job somewhere else?
Only you can decide how best to invest in yourself, so give it some time and thought.
If you haven’t asked yourself these questions and done some homework on them, I think you should. As part of that homework, I suggest going to Udemy.com where they now offer over 6,000 online courses. Are any of these subjects of interest? Of value?
Hey, it’s your life. But to get the most out of it, don’t overlook getting the most out of your greatest asset–that person staring back at you in the mirror every morning.
